Porcelain veneers within reason allow for the alteration of tooth position, shape, size & color. They require a minimal amount of tooth preparation (approximately 0.5 mm of the surface enamel) – and are, therefore, a more conservative restoration than a crown. Although not the only alternative for all aesthetic abnormalities, they are truly a remarkable restoration when they are treatment of choice.
Though Veneers can be fabricated in composite too - the preferred material is ceramic hence the rest of this discussion shall be keeping in mind porcelain veneers.
